Burning together brings us together. CHAR-RX is rooted in that understanding. Our goal is to get biochar implementation on the fire-line when burn plans are constructed. We feel tactical execution of generating stable crystalline carbon during RX burns is paramount to a truly fire resilient eco-system.
If you have participated in a broadcast burn, or perhaps planned, or lead one yourself, we all have something in common. Heavies. lots of heavies, branches sticks and slash. Most of the time they're burnt off as "jackpot piles" or "charred "bone pile".
This is where the CHAR-RX burn model comes into play. Rather than torching that material off as ash and generating a burn scar, we either participate during the burn op and mop up later, or tidy up the burn site before a broadcast burn is initiated and is written into the plan.

The Cohasset Ridge Prescribed Burn Association is a community-led group dedicated to bringing neighbors together to safely reintroduce good fire to the landscape. Through shared effort and local leadership, the PBA helps reduce wildfire risk, restore forest health, and build a more fire-adapted community. By working side by side, members gain the knowledge, skills, and support needed to protect their land and strengthen the resilience of Cohasset Ridge.

It sure is to us! Reducing emission, burning hotter, and sequestering amorphous carbon presents many unique opportunities to augment current practices. Many see the benefits of burning in an enclosed apparatus for safety alone, combining the ability to generate several yards of crystalline carbon, with onsite materials is also appealing. Especially for forest and watershed health.
